RESPONSIBLE EVOLUTION • Regulation 

 

1. Subject

Istituto Marangoni S.r.l. (‘Istituto Marangoni’), with the creative support of Vogue Talents, is launching a new edition of its scholarship programme, titled ‘Responsible Evolution’.

The scholarship scheme (the ‘Initiative’) is for students from around the world and offers 50% reduction on the tuition fee for Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes starting in October 2021 (Milano School of Fashion, Milano School of Design, Firenze, London, Paris), in September 2021 (Shanghai Training Centre) and August 2021 (Mumbai School). 

 

2. Project Brief

To participate, applicants are required to produce a special project, focused on the use of digital technologies in the fields of Fashion, Design or Art.

The aim of the project is to highlight ‘How Digital Transformation and innovation can help the industry evolve into a more responsible system.

Participants can develop their projects taking a problem-solving driven approach for Fashion, Design and Art, by analysing one of the following topics:

  • how tradition can be combined with innovative craftsmanship
  • the comeback of nature and communities as tools for a mindful future
  • how digital communication has strengthened the contemporary concept of fluidity.

The project can be developed in different formats: video animations, PowerPoint presentations, a prototype portfolio with music or voice-over, a photo slideshow/gallery, a stop-motion video or even a simple video story to illustrate the applicant’s idea. 

Together with their project, candidates should also upload a short video presentation (no longer than 60 seconds) describing their personal journey (nationality, qualifications, experience) and their vision of their personal project. To support their application, candidates should also explain why they would like to participate and how this specific initiative could be life changing if they were selected. 

If it is a PowerPoint presentation, a portfolio or a gallery, the projects must not be longer than 20 pages.

 

3. How to participate

Prospective students can apply for free: each candidate can submit only one application per School by uploading the required documents to the Scholarship platform.

For China, the required documents must be uploaded to the Platform http://vogue.istitutomarangoni.cn

Candidates will receive an e-mail to confirm that their application has been received.

If you do not receive your confirmation email, please contact the above email address no later than 24 hours after submitting your application.

 

To participate in the initiative, applicants are requested to upload a list of documents, according to their course of interest, in addition to the project itself. 

If applicants have more than 1 file per document type, a compressed file (.zip or .rar) can be uploaded. 

Maximum file size per upload is set to 2 MB. 

Maximum allowed size per Special Project upload is 10MB.

 

Three-Year Courses & First Level Academic Diploma (Milano School of Fashion, Milano School of Design, Firenze, London and Paris) & Undergraduate Progression Programmes (Shanghai Training Centre and Mumbai School)

Participants who wish to apply for a Three-year course / a First Level Academic Diploma / an Undergraduate Progression Programme are requested to upload the following in a single .zip or .rar folder: 

1) Special Project comprising:

  • A personal project in the form of a digital document including the research output and its rationale, goals and objectives or a work portfolio.
  • Personal storytelling with a video no longer than 60 seconds.

2) Copy of High School Diploma: if you have not graduated from high school yet, you can upload a certificate of enrolment confirming that you are attending your final year

3) Copy of High School Grades Certificate

4) Passport Scan / ID

5) Signed Personal Statement (Letter of motivation): we suggest you explain why you wish to participate in the initiative, how would you develop your career in the coming years, what your personal goals are, etc. (about 100 words).

6) Language Certificate (only for validated programmes): 

  • For Manchester Met validated courses in London and Paris: non-native English speakers need to provide a copy of the official English Language Certificate. The English language test score should be at least B2 on the CEFR level - i.e. IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no modules below 5.5 (for BA (Hons) courses taught in the Schools of London and Paris). The minimum English language requirements are subject to change and can be checked on https://www2.mmu.ac.uk/international/courses/english-language-requirements/
  • For AFAM validated courses in Milano and Firenze: non-English or Italian native speakers need to provide a certificate of language skills, level B1 of CEFR with specific requirements (e.g. IELTS 4.5 without elements below 4.0). 

Following the upload of the required documents on the scholarship platform, students for a three-year course delivered at any European school, will be required to complete a brief skill test. 

 

Master’s Courses (Milano School of Fashion, Milano School of Design, Firenze, London and Paris)* and Postgraduate Programmes (Shanghai Training Centre and Mumbai School)

Participants who wish to apply for a Master’s / Cycle de Spécialisation / Postgraduate course are requested to upload the following in a single .zip or .rar folder: 

1) Special Project comprising:

  • A personal project in the form of a digital document including the research output and its rationale, goals and objectives or a portfolio of work.
  • Personal storytelling with a video no longer than 60 seconds.

2) Copy of University Degree: if you have not received your Degree, yet, you can upload a certificate on enrolment confirming you are about to graduate**

3) Copy of University Transcript**

4) Passport Scan

5) Signed Personal Statement (Letter of motivation): we suggest you explain why you wish to participate in the initiative, how would you develop your career in the coming years, what your personal goals are, etc. (about 100 words).

  • For Manchester Met validated courses in London and Paris: non-native English speakers need to provide a copy of the official English Language Certificate. The English language test score should be at least B2 on the CEFR level - i.e. IELTS overall score of 6.5 with no modules below 5.5** (for Master’s Degree Programmes and Cycle de Spécialisation, courses are in English and taught in the Schools of London and Paris). The minimum English language requirements are subject to change and can be checked here. 

* Candidates for Master’s Degree Programme and Cycle de Spécialisation, taught in the Schools of London and Paris will have to meet a specific level of study (that can be checked here, indicating country of education).

** For MMET validated courses in London and Paris: when not in English, an official English translation must be provided.  

 

 

4. Timeline and Deadlines

  • 4 June 2021 > application deadline.
  • 18 June 2021 > Committee meeting to select the best projects.
  • From 22 June 2021 > The selected recipients will be notified of their scholarship awards.

 

5. Selection Panel and evaluation criteria

Projects will be evaluated by a professional selection panel (hereby called the “Panel”) and ranked based on the following criteria:

  • Objective coherence
  • Level of innovation
  • Project feasibility and aesthetic approach
  • Overall quality
  • Ability to synthesise information and project clarity.

The Panel will select a maximum of 14 recipients (two for each School – one for an Undergraduate level course and one for a Postgraduate level course) will be chosen at its sole discretion.

 

6. Award

A maximum of 14 scholarships in the form of a 50% tuition fee reduction (enrolment fee is always due) on a pre-selected course, valid for one of the programmes offered by Istituto Marangoni at one of its schools for August/September/October 2021 intakes.

Any scholarship awarded for a specific intake (e.g. August 2021 for Mumbai, September 2021 for Shanghai, will NOT be automatically valid for the next following intake (e.g. January 2022 for Mumbai, February 2022 for Milano School of Design, Firenze, London, Paris, and March 2022 for Shanghai) – as they will have to be approved by the Management and the Academic Committee on a case-by-case basis.

For participants applying for a three-year/BA Hons course: the tuition fee deduction is only applied to the first year of the three-year course.

 

At the sole discretion of Istituto Marangoni, economic facilitations may also be granted for enrollment in courses starting in August, September and October '21 to participants in the Initiative who are not winners, but who have developed projects worthy of interest for the same.

 

7. Results and Publication

At the end of the selection process, scholarship recipients will be notified by e-mail and with a phone call. 

The selected scholarship recipients shall confirm their interest in the scholarship within 15 (fifteen) working days of the date of their first email notification. After that period has been elapsed without receiving any communication from the recipient, the scholarship will be considered as forfeited and reassigned.

The acceptance of the scholarship implies the obligation for the recipient to submit their application for the selected course and pay the remaining amount of the tuition fee. 

 

8. Rights and use of the delivered outputs

The participants (hereinafter the “Participants”) agree to transfer free of charge to Istituto Marangoni* and its successors the right to use their special projects (hereinafter the “Projects” or, in the singular, “Project”) and the products that will be, where applicable, produced as a result of the Project; the right to use any output delivered for taking part in the “Responsible Evolution” initiative, as well as all the materials connected to the projects and delivered, including the drawing of the Project, any sketches, samples, models, tests and video and photo materials. Istituto Marangoni reserves the right to use, publish and otherwise disseminate the Projects in the form and manner deemed appropriate. Participants shall also authorise Istituto Marangoni to use the documents received for promotional purposes and in the manner deemed appropriate. By joining the “Responsible Evolution” initiative for ideas, the Participants declare that Istituto Marangoni and its successors cannot be subject to any claim resulting from such use. In any case, the Participants agree to indemnify and hold Istituto Marangoni and its successors harmless from any liability toward third parties.

9. Declarations and warranties  

Each Participant declares and guarantees: 

(i) to be the author of the Project, to own and to be fully, legitimately and autonomously entitled to grant, without limitation, all the rights granted herein, including but not limited to any intellectual property rights related to the Project

(ii) that the Project is original and shall not, directly or indirectly, infringe any third party rights, including copyrights and intellectual property rights

(iii) that the Project does not contain any obscene, violent, defamatory, blaspheme, upsetting elements and that it shall not infringe any third party personal or property rights (including moral rights, image rights, honour and/or reputation and/or confidentiality rights, copyrights, data protection, publishing and/or other rights) or any applicable law. If the Project contains any elements and/or parts of works by third parties, the Participant declares to have obtained in advance and/or to obtain all the necessary consent, permissions and/or authorisations, as well as all Project usage rights granted herein;

(iv) that there are no rights or agreement with any third party which shall interfere with the rights granted herein and with the full and free usage and arrangement of the Project by Istituto Marangoni and its successors.

 

In any case, the Participant undertakes to  indemnify and hold Istituto Marangoni and its successors harmless with respect to any demand, claim, contestation or request, whether made or brought before a court or otherwise, by third parties related to the Project and/or to the rights granted pursuant the article 8 and/or that are inconsistent with the representations, warranties and obligations that the Participant has provided herein or by law and/or may interfere with the full and free use of the rights granted herein by Istituto Marangoni and its successors.

 

10. Information notice on personal data processing

The Personal data (“Data”) collected in relation to the Initiative will be registered in the database of Istituto Marangoni, which will process personal data (“Data Controller”), pursuant to the General European Data Protection Regulation  - Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 27 April 2016 and the relevant implementing legislation (hereinafter, jointly, the "Regulation").

 

The Participants Data collected in relation to their participation in the Initiative will be processed by the Data Controller for the following purposes: 

(i) to enable Participants to submit their application and, if necessary, to provide any further information that may be useful and/or necessary for the purpose of evaluating their application

(ii) for purposes related with and instrumental to the process of evaluating, reviewing and selecting the submitted applications

(iii) for the management of participation in the Initiative, including sending application integration requests, information materials, updates, communications and/or changes to the programme related to the Initiative itself, as well as for selecting and announcing the recipients

(iv) to fulfil any obligation provided for by laws, regulations, Community rules, orders, prescriptions and/or requests made by the Judicial Authority or by any person authorised to do so under legal provisions and secondary legislation

(v) to exercise the rights and protect the legitimate interests of the Data Controller, such as the right to counsel.

The processing of the Data for the purposes indicated in points (i), (ii) and (iii) above shall be carried out by Data Controller for the purpose of processing the Participants’ application, evaluating and selecting the projects and - in the event of effective selection and confirmation - for announcing the recipients and therefore does not require Participants’ express consent (pursuant to article 6.1 letter (b) of the Regulations). The data requested by Istituto Marangoni is required for these uses; failure to provide such Data will prevent Participants’ application from being examined and, consequently, their participation in the Initiative (pursuant to article 6.1, letter (b) of the GDPR). 

Data processing for the purposes specified in points (iv) and (v) above is carried out to fulfil legal obligations, and therefore does not require the Participants’ express consent (pursuant to article 6.1, letter (c) of the GDPR).

 

The Participants’ Data will be processed manually, automatically and electronically, and in any case in a way that guarantees data security and prevents unauthorised Data access.

 

The Participants’ Data and projects shall be disclosed to third parties by Istituto Marangoni for the purposes of selecting and evaluating Projects within the scope of the Initiative. Data disclosure for this purpose is necessary to participate in the Initiative.

 

Pursuant to the Regulation, those  whose  Data are collected as a result of taking part in the Initiative are entitled to: a) obtain information on the existence of the data and the purpose for which such Data is processed, the storage period and the persons to whom Data are disclosed; b) receive the personal Data concerning them in a commonly used, machine-readable format; c) object to some or all of the processing; d) obtain the updating, correction, integration, limitation, deletion, blocking or transformation into anonymous form of their Data. Istituto Marangoni also reminds Participants that they are entitled to contact the Data Protection Authority (Piazza di Monte Citorio, 121 – 00186 Rome RM) to exercise their rights regarding the processing of their Data.

Participants may exercise the rights set forth above by the Data Protection Officer (DPO) Frareg S.r.l. - Viale Jenner 38, 20159 Milano MI – Italy, appointed by the Data Controller, with a written request to be sent to the email address dpo@frareg.com

  

11.Use of Personal Data

Participants authorise Istituto Marangoni to use their Data and images, as well as to create and acquire videos, photos, recordings and to deliver their images through third parties together and by any means and activity related to the Initiative within six months of the expiry of the Initiative. They grant to Istituto Marangoni the right to use the said “material” as part of the editorial products created and published by Istituto Marangoni and on the institutional website and social networks of Istituto Marangoni and its successors.

 

12. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

The Italian law will govern the Initiative and the relations between the Participants. Any dispute that may arise between the promoters and the Participants will be of exclusive jurisdiction of the Court of Milan (Italy).

 

13. Exemption from the ministerial validation

Pursuant to the article 6, D.P.R. 430, of 26/10/2001, this Initiative is not a prize competition or lottery: as a result, no ministerial authorisation is needed.
